AJIO Luxe Wkend’24 - A Spectacular Return of Fashion, Art, and Luxury Experiences

- Prashant Shrivastava

It was an incredible experience to be a part of the 4th Edition of Ajio Luxe Weekend, which took place at Jio World Garden, BKC, from January 12 to 14, 2024. The event dazzled with a multitude of immersive and curated activities, immersing attendees in the realms of luxury, art, fashion, and design. The weekend left me truly captivated, and as I reflect on the enchanting moments, I am thrilled to share the immersive nature of Ajio Luxe Weekend.

On January 12, 2024, in Mumbai, the event partnered with Chivas Glassware and HSBC, building on the success of the previous year. Organised by The Magnanimous Group in collaboration with The Established, the event featured 250+ brands across 14 categories over three days, showcasing their commitment to excellence.

This edition had Anaita Shroff Adajania curating the Fashion segment with a mix of International and Homegrown labels. Ashiesh Shah, the curator of Home + Design, showcased luxe sensibilities, and Aparajita Jain joined to curate Art, presenting over 80 pieces by seven artists.

The Opening Night Preview, in collaboration with Ajio Luxe, Chivas Glassware, and HSBC, provided an exclusive first look at Edition 4. The evening included the captivating event "Mercury Retrograde: Magic or Mayhem," hosted by curators Anaita, Ashiesh, and Aparajita, drawing inspiration from the astrological event.

The focus shifted to sustainable fashion later that evening, introducing Pangaia in the Ajio Luxe Outdoors and offering a midnight shopping experience.

On day two, the House of Chivas hosted HSBC Power Panels by The Established, with discussions moderated by industry experts on the topics such as “EXAMINING THE RISE OF FASHION START-UPS AND VENTURE CAPITAL IN INDIA”, “WHAT DOES THE ADVENT OF INTERNATIONAL BEAUTY BRANDS SPELL FOR HOMEGROWN BEAUTY BRANDS?” and others. Brunches and cocktails filled the Chivas XV Lounge, featuring collaborations like the Boss x Porsche brunch and a cocktail evening by Omega at the Aberlour Lounge.

In the Ajio Luxe Outdoors, Farm Rio hosted a brunch, and the Tira Grand Hotel featured a Laura Mercier masterclass over brunch, Allies of Skin high tea, and an exclusive Maison Margiela launch over cocktails. There was an exclusive Art Collector’s High Tea, and the Malfy Lounge had curated brunch and cocktails by Onitsuka Tiger.

The beauty industry thrived at Ajio Luxe Wkend, focusing on skincare and makeup. The Tira Grand Hotel hosted a large popup exclusively for skincare and beauty, featuring networking opportunities, workshops, and long lines.

Day three celebrated opulence with a supercar drive with brands such as Aston Martin, Porsche, BMW, Rolls Royce, Mercedes and Audi showcasing the power and a beautiful brunch in the Ajio Luxe Outdoors. The Tira Grand Hotel invited guests to experience must-haves from the makeup brand Anastasia Beverly Hills over cocktails and conversations at a sundowner. The vibrant pop cover band Soul City and Nida’s house disco set closed the show on the Main Stage.

Over the three-day event, I enjoyed the elevated shopping, engaging conversations, diverse fashion, illuminating timepieces, state-of-the-art automobiles, inspiring art, prominent beauty brands, intricate everyday jewelry, and bespoke pieces. Culinary Artistry across the globe added a sensory dimension, accompanied by the sounds of both local and global music artists.

The commitment to environmental responsibility through conscious design and sustainable practices not only added depth to the experience but also illuminated the bright future of the luxury industry in India. The event served as a testament to the evolving and promising landscape of luxury, setting the stage for a vibrant and sustainable future.

Anticipating the direction of the luxury market is definitely exciting as I look forward to the upcoming years. The dynamic environment and cutting-edge techniques on display at occasions such as Ajio Luxe Weekend carry a bright future. The Indian luxury sector is ripe for expansion, and I look forward to seeing what new experiences and ideas emerge that will weave their way into the intricate fabric of luxury in the years to come. There are a plethora of opportunities ahead, and I'm excited to see how the Indian luxury industry continues to evolve and grow.
