THEIR STORY: Roberto Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli is an Italian fashion designerand inventor. He is known for exotic prints and for creating the sand-blasted look for jeans. The high-end Italian fashion house Roberto Cavalli luxury clothing. perfume and leather accessories.



Born in Florence, Roberto began his career as a textile printer for an Italian knitwear line and worked for a designed house- Mario Valentino-the Naples designer known for his well-crafted leathers and suedes Roberto Cavalli's flamboyant, creatively embellished clothes have earned him a loyal following among fashion-forward men. women. and pop stars. Fashion aficionados rediscovered his still-extravagant designs in the '9Os and helped make them among the most coveted items from the runways each season. Cavalli's form-fitting, vividly coloured clothes quickly became hit with trend-setting

After this, Cavalli's clothes caught on with amuch more difficult segment to win over. An Independent Sunday writer termed "the Cavalli cult" included "every big rock, pop, and rap star fromMadonna to Marv J. Blige and the entirecast of Sex and the city.


In Milan in 1994, Cavalli presented the first sand-blasted jeans. By December of the same year, he had opened boutiques in Saint Barth, in the French Caribbean followed by others in Venice and Saint Tropez Besides the main line. which is sold in over fifty countries worldwide.


In 2002, Cavalli opened his first café-store in Florence, revamping it with his signature animal prints. This was shortly followed by the opening in Milan of the Just Cavalli café at Torre Branca and another boutique on Via Della Spiga.


On June 18, 2013, he was awarded an Honorary Master Diploma in Fashion Management from Domus Academy in Milan during a ceremony after which he held a Lectio Magistralis.


Cavalli was the first fashion designer to be chosen to serve as grand marshal of New York City's Columbus Day parade; notable personalities of Italian heritage are usually selected for the honour.
