Alessio Vannetti is appointed chief brand officer at Gucci.

Alessio Vannetti, who left his position as chief brand officer of Valentino in July, will rejoin Gucci as executive vice president and chief brand officer to oversee marketing initiatives. From 2015 through 2019, Vannetti served as director of global communications at Gucci.

Robert Triefus left Gucci at the end of April, and veteran marketer Susan Chokachi, who is based in the US, has been in charge of the brand's marketing ever since.

After the drastic aesthetic transformation led by former creative director Alessandro Michele, Vannetti will be entrusted in his new position with reinforcing Gucci's heritage story, fostering a more consistent brand statement, and creating anticipation for Sabato de Sarno, the brand's newest designer.

The changes occur as De Sarno gets ready for his highly anticipated debut at Milan Fashion Week on September and CEO Marco Bizzarri prepares to leave the company. While many industry insiders are eager to see a new perspective on Gucci, anxiety has been growing among company employees as well as investors and retail partners regarding Gucci's so far subdued marketing strategy for De Sarno's debut collection.

The world has only seen a single glimpse of what De Sarno has in mind for the brand's future up until now, and that was in an image from a high jewelry campaign showing retired model Daria Werbowy curled up next to the pool at Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont hotel wearing oversized, gold statement earrings and subtly branded black bikini briefs reminiscent of Tom Ford-era Gucci.
