Bowers & Wilkins announces limited edition McLaren-inspired "Zeppelin" speaker

Since 2015, speaker industry leaders Bowers & Wilkins have created the audio systems for McLaren automobiles. The audio manufacturer has unveiled a new McLaren-branded version of its wireless speaker in recognition of that partnership.

Americans could be tempted to call the aircraft, which has been called the Zeppelin because of its shape and is currently finished in Papaya orange, the football. The design of the speaker is deliberate and enables Bowers & Wilkins to include "reference quality drive unit technologies" into specific left and right speaker assemblies, regardless of what it makes you think of. According to the manufacturer, they surround a central subwoofer that contributes to room-filling sound.

As an homage to the company's illustrious racecars, the McLaren edition's speaker will be coated in Papaya Orange or Galvanic Grey. The automaker's founder, Bruce McLaren, is honored at the back with a Speedy Kiwi.

McLaren's chief sales and marketing officer, George Biggs, said, "We are thrilled to unveil the next installment of our partnership with Bowers & Wilkins - the new Zeppelin McLaren Edition wireless speaker." "Both brands have a never-ending passion for pushing the envelope, whether it's in audio or automotive engineering. Fans of both brands may now bring their cars' acclaimed audio experiences indoors.

To commemorate the brand's 60 years in business, just 60 units of the Zeppelin McLaren Edition will be made available for purchase.

“I am thrilled to introduce the latest addition to our expanding product portfolio developed in collaboration with our partners at McLaren Automotive,” said Dan Shepherd, VP of licensing and partnerships at Bowers & Wilkins. “The Zeppelin McLaren Edition joins the highly successful Px8 McLaren Edition [headphones], creating a uniquely appealing and innovative wireless product range that I’m sure will find eager buyers amongst both fans of McLaren and fans of Bowers & Wilkins alike.”
