Coinciding with Valentino Garavani’s 90th birthday and the unveiling of the Autumn/Winter 2022 Haute Couture collection in the heart of Rome, the exhibition is conceived as a vast panoramic view of the history of the Maison, embedded in scenography evoking the Eternal City, which has been Valentino’s home since its foundation in 1959.
The show is curated by Massimiliano Gioni, artistic director of the New Museum New York, and the fashion critic and author Alexander Fury, working closely with Valentino Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli.
The exhibition is an emotional promenade through the Valentino archives, in which themes, chronology, and heritage references were blurred into a moving experience—counterintuitive while remaining cohesive and visually captivating. Garavani and Piccioli’s past and present creations sit alongside one another in a beautiful, streaming discourse.savoir-faire
