TRENDS

Quiet Luxury

Milan Fashion Week was a parade of quiet luxury with simpler designs were welcomed by designers, who nevertheless emphasized the quality of their craftsmanship. It aimed to demonstrate how effortlessly stylish one can be with classic, timeless pieces that don't require to have a logo all over them. The fashion industry seems to have revived the monochromatic, minimalist look with more artisanal, finely tailored, and logo-free clothing which was evident when-

  • Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons co-designed the Prada collection showcased, sans a set or theme for the catwalk but the clothes spoke itself.

  • Fendi still played a little with its "F" logo, which remains present on the bags, but the overall tone was subtle and sober.

  • Max Mara offered a sunnier version of quiet luxury, drawing inspiration from an understated theme: the daily life of the British Women's Land Army, based on the women who took on farming to feed the nation while the men were off fighting in WWII.

Red leather Gucci and Bally

Whether it’s the colour of chilli or cherry, red leather was the hot pick of the season at both the brands’ spring-summer 2024 shows. The first collections from their new creative directors, Sabato De Sarno at Gucci and Simone Bellotti at Bally, were showcased by both houses. Gucci's latest collection benefited from e De Sarno's playful yet minimalist touch, which included matching maroon pointed heels, pencil skirts, and crop tops.

Short hemlines at Versace

The Versace show featured a lot of mini hemlines. Versace celebrated '60s fashion with a line of vintage-inspired dresses in soft pastel hues with cheeky short hemlines.

Overstated proportions at Bottega Veneta

For their spring/summer 2024 collections, Bottega Veneta and The Attico adopted the maxim "go big or go home" in regards to garment proportions.Creative director of Bottega Veneta Matthieu Blazy debuted dramatic ensembles like knitted fishnet dresses with big raffia pom poms.

Sheer fabrics ensemble by Prada and Giorgio Armani
